Frequently asked questions

Is the Markdown to PDF converter free?
Yes, the converter is completely free to use. No sign-up or account is required. PDF generation runs in your browser, so your content never leaves your device.
What markdown features are supported?
Headings (## Title through ###### Title), **bold**, *italic*, GFM tables (| col | col |), ordered and unordered lists (1. item, - item), blockquotes (> text), fenced code blocks, horizontal rules (---), and clickable section links ([Title](#1)) for building a table of contents.
Is my content private?
PDF conversion runs entirely in your browser. Your markdown is never uploaded to a server. The optional AI executive summary feature sends content to an AI provider for processing, but this data is transient and not stored.
How do I create a clickable table of contents?
Use markdown links with anchor references. For example, [Introduction](#1) links to the first heading in your document. You can also use slug-based anchors like [Introduction](#introduction).
Can I add tables to the PDF?
Yes. Use standard GitHub Flavoured Markdown (GFM) table syntax with pipes and dashes (| col | col |). Tables in the PDF have styled headers, clean borders, and support text alignment via colon syntax in the separator row.
Does the converter support images?
The converter focuses on text-based content: headings, paragraphs, tables, lists, code blocks, and blockquotes. Inline images are not currently supported.
What does the AI executive summary do?
It reads your markdown content and generates a short paragraph (3 to 5 sentences) suitable for an email cover note when sharing the PDF. The summary is plain text, ready to paste.
Can I remove the Addy branding from the PDF?
Yes. Toggle off the 'Branded header' checkbox to remove the logo and accent line. The PDF is yours to use however you like.
What file formats can I convert from?
The tool accepts standard Markdown (.md) syntax. If your content is in a different format (HTML, Word, Google Docs), convert it to Markdown first using any text editor or online converter, then paste it here.
Does this work on mobile?
Yes. The tool is fully responsive and works in any modern mobile browser. The PDF is generated on your device and downloads directly to your phone or tablet.
